Plunders & Blunders

Misadventures Every Monday!

A live-play D&D podcast where 6 friends sit around a table, drink, and tell a story of magic, mayhem, and mystery. Together they weave the tale of a crew of misfits seeking answers, thrills, and revenge. Sometime it's epic, sometimes it's silly, but it's always an adventure.

It's Joey's Birthday!!!! Happy Birdday to our high flying fighter!

I think I need to come up with more of a format for these news Updates, as opposed to the Jazz like nature they have had thus far. But I don't know what that form needs to look like. I also kind of assume that, because this is the link that gets posted to Twitter, if someone ends up reading this, they have not yet listened to the episode, and I don't want to get super spoiler-y in the news updates. I will say that this episode is not about aliens, but it does work on multiple levels, or at least, referring to multiple things.

I'll try to come up with a formula in the coming week. But this past week, I was able to knock out a few more edits, so if I keep this up, I should be all caught up on edits by mid-July. At which point, I can start sliding some more content your way. But, we'll see if I have another month's worth of discipline hiding somewhere in these old bones. Hope you enjoy the episode and have a lovely week!

This announcement is going up late because after our session yesterday I went to a party and watched the Tony's. BUT that's the beauty of getting things done early! I had the episode edited and done last week, and it went up automatically. Living in the future is great. I don't have a lot to add this week. I'm getting faster at editing. Hoping to get it down to a solid 1ep/day. And if I do get that done, we might get to do some "Double episode" weeks next month, which would be cool. So, hopefully I can stay motivated and on track. So I'm gonna get back to that grind. You have a lovely week. Enjoy this weeks episode, and we'll be back next week with Chapter 9!

On their journey our friends come to a new little township, and are thusly provided with the opportunity to procure new objects. Yup. It's a shopping episode. I hope that it's silly enough to keep you entertained through the haggling with new strangers. And if not, well, we won't be shopping again for a while, so take solace in that.

Also, this happens...

PODCAST PLANS

Okay, so I'm going to level with you. Something we haven't talked about is the timeline of Playing/recording vs. Releasing. We started this game back at the end of November 2016. We didn't release the podcast until the beginning of March. Chapter 8 was recorded back in February, before the Podcast was even up and running. We just finished playing our 12th session, which, since most sessions make 3 episodes, means we're currently looking at a 3 month delay. You're probably wondering, "Why?". Because I want our podcast to sound better than just hitting record. I put time into editing out long gaps of looking up rules, side conversations about food and booze, and other just nonsensical garbage. I also clean up the audio- 6 mics next to each other sound pretty echoey and terrible due to picking up each other's sound. I take the time because I want it to sound good. Also. by breaking up the sessions into parts, we can provide a constant stream of content. Our game just took a month and a half break due to vacations and scheduling conflicts but you'd never know because we'll be delivering every Monday without interruption. My goal is to get through editing the backlog of sessions, and be able to release bonus episodes til we get to about the 2 month delay mark. That way, should another one of these long breaks happen we will have a cushion to absorb that missing time, and then if we have an excess of content, we're not sitting on it and hoarding it, but we can share it with you, our loyal listener. Anyway, that's the ideal situation, but we'll see how long it takes to get there. I've got to get more efficient at editing first if I wanna get my way through the mountain of audio bearing down on me to catch up to where we are now.

Thanks for reading. Thanks for listening. You are great.

Talk to you next Monday.

I totally lied. Last week I said it would be a while before we went over 90 minutes. This week's episode clocks in at over 100 minutes. Though I'm sure I could have gone in with a scalpel and pulled out that last few minutes of audio, I don't think it'd be worth it. I'm hoping to settle back into the 90 minute episode swing next chapter. I had this episode edited last week! But I went on a mini-vacation so ended up doing the up-til-sunrise final touches anyway. Gonna get the next one in the can early in the week so I can try to make some headway on the recordings.

Also, when I'm in a really good mood, I have a tendency to sing. There is quite a bit of singing throughout this chapter.

Other than that, Thanks for listening, have a Happy Memorial Day, and we'll be back next week with more Adventure!

This brings an end to one of my favorite chapters, and certainly one of the most memorable sessions of D&D I've played. We're down a Gina and an Alyssa this episode, so I didn't really know what would end up happening, I kind of figured it'd just be hanging out around Ygg, just doing some world building and lore stuff. Joey, Paul, and Elly all stepped up and delved into some character stuff, as well as having one of the absolutely silliest ideas we've yet seen in our game. I don't want to ruin the surprise, so I won't, but I will say that we laughed a whole hell of a lot when we made this episode. Which may be a contributing factor as to why the episode is so long. It is our longest episode to date, clocking in at an hour 45. I don't really like them to run longer than 90 minutes, so hopefully it'll be a while before this happens again. But I felt like the last episode ended in a good spot, and I didn't want to adjust the beginning of this one to the end of that one, if that makes sense. Anyway. It's a very mellow, silly episode after weeks of stress and fighting. Enjoy!
