Plunders & Blunders

Misadventures Every Monday!

A live-play D&D podcast where 6 friends sit around a table, drink, and tell a story of magic, mayhem, and mystery. Together they weave the tale of a crew of misfits seeking answers, thrills, and revenge. Sometime it's epic, sometimes it's silly, but it's always an adventure.

Leave us a review!

This brings an end to one of my favorite chapters, and certainly one of the most memorable sessions of D&D I've played. We're down a Gina and an Alyssa this episode, so I didn't really know what would end up happening, I kind of figured it'd just be hanging out around Ygg, just doing some world building and lore stuff. Joey, Paul, and Elly all stepped up and delved into some character stuff, as well as having one of the absolutely silliest ideas we've yet seen in our game. I don't want to ruin the surprise, so I won't, but I will say that we laughed a whole hell of a lot when we made this episode. Which may be a contributing factor as to why the episode is so long. It is our longest episode to date, clocking in at an hour 45. I don't really like them to run longer than 90 minutes, so hopefully it'll be a while before this happens again. But I felt like the last episode ended in a good spot, and I didn't want to adjust the beginning of this one to the end of that one, if that makes sense. Anyway. It's a very mellow, silly episode after weeks of stress and fighting. Enjoy!

Okay. With all the nuts and bolts of marketing out of the way, we can talk about what's going on this week. And surprise! It's a confrontation with that scary weirdo who killed and burned all of his friends! And I'm sure you can intuit from the title of the episode, it goes very well for everybody. This was the episode I think the players realized that bad things can happen to them. Not just goofy, inconvenient stuff. But actual, story changing, life-threatening choices can be made. And though their characters are strong, they are not all powerful and still have a lot of learning to do. And on my side of the screen, I think the encounter was somewhat more dynamic than they have been in the past. I'm hoping that trend toward more interesting staging and environmental interactions will lead to a better listening experience. Only time will tell. Anyway. Enjoy the episode! It's a little scary. But it'll all be fine... Probably.

Until Next Week,

Chapter 7, Part 1 is now available here on our website, via rss, on iTunes, and Stitcher!

I know it looks like a nonsense word, but it does mean something in the context of this world, and you'll be clued in less than halfway through the episode. I actually managed to get this edit done prior to the weekend, which hopefully means I'm starting to dial in to this process and will be able to continue to deliver the podcast on-time without staying up til sunrise the day of trying to get it finished.

As far as story stuff goes, I'm really excited about this chapter. I'm fond of every part of this chapter and cannot wait to share it with you.

Until next week,

Chapter 6, Part 3 is now available here on our website, via rss, on iTunes, and via Stitcher!

This was a tough fight, I think for the wrong reasons. It was a challenge numerically, but not necessarily tactically. Since we recorded this, I've been reading up on how to make encounters that are more... engaging? Remember, this is my first time as a DM. I'm just learning as I go. Also my first time on sound, and I'm still trying to get that workflow to a place where I can edit a double length episode (this one was cut down from over 3 hours) and not be up until 6AM the day it's due still working on it. Though I did figure out an issue that caused excruciatingly long load times when editing and exporting files, so that's a win I'll take. The resolution of Chapter 6 is gonna get all smushed into the introduction of Chapter 7. They're both each about a half hour, so combined they'll make for a regular sized episode. I figured that makes more sense than two 30 minute episodes. That's just silly. Anyway. Enjoy the episode and Have a wonderful week!

Chapter 6, Part 2 is now available here on our website, via rss, on iTunes, and via Stitcher!

Had some crazy technical difficulties on this one. A note to audio editors - make sure all of your audio is synced up! One of the files was a different length and it wreaked havoc on my edit because I didn't notice until the final export. Anyway. Still figuring out the workflow for this, learning with every mistake, and hopefully improving.

We hope enjoy the episode, and that you'll join us for the continuation of this grueling fight against the Northmen next week in Chapter 6, Part 3: Slog!
